For example, our leading financial institutions practice has advised on landmark in Russia, the CIS and Africa transactions including the IPOs of VTB and Bank St. Petersburg and capital raisings for the Nigerian banks United Bank for Africa and AccessBank. In metals and mining, Renaissance Capital advised Onexim Group on the sale of its 25% stake in Norlisk Nickel to a strategic investor and equity offerings for MMK and Uralkali.

VTB
In May 2007, Renaissance Capital acted as Joint Bookrunner of the US$8 billion IPO of VTB. This was one of the largest IPOs in Europe in 2007 and biggest ever Russian bank IPO to date. The Moscow and London listed IPO generated tremendous domestic and international investor interest and was over 10x covered. This was the largest ever Russian retail offering with more than 136,000 applications representing US$1.6billion of demand.
Access Bank
In July 2007, Renaissance Capital acted as Placement Agent for a US$300 million unlisted GDR offering for Access Bank in Nigeria. Renaissance Capital intensive marketing and investor education resulted in demand of over US$2 billion from 80 investors, many of whom were first time investors into Africa. The innovative structure combined the needs of international investors with local market practice enabling a swift execution alongside the client’s domestic public offer.
