Renaissance Capital holds inaugural East African Investor Conference in Nairobi
Nairobi, October 14, 2009 – Leading East African corporate executives, government officials and investors from around the world gathered in Nairobi this week for Renaissance Capital's inaugural East African Investor Conference. The two-day event is organized around the theme "Finding a Common Cause Amid an Uncommon Crisis."

Speakers at yesterday's plenary sessions included Kenyan Minister of Trade Amos Kimunya, CEO of Safaricom Michael Joseph, Co-Founder and Director of AccessKenya David Somen, CEO of Equity Bank James Mwangi, CEO of Athi River Mining Pradeep Paunrana and CEO of Scangroup Bharat Thakrar along with many other senior government officials, regulators and corporate executives.

Neil Harvey, Chairman International of Renaissance Group, said: "Renaissance is proud to have organized this inaugural and high-profile investor conference, which has gone a long way in attracting the interest of the global investor community in the exciting opportunities available in the East African market. The conference will help raise the profile of local market players in the international arena."

Patrick Mweheire, Head of Investment Banking Africa and CEO East Africa, said: "Frequent dialogue between investors and issuers is critical, particularly given the turbulence in global markets today. The many one-on-one meetings that Renaissance Capital organized this week between executives from East Africa's leading companies and local and foreign investors is exactly what the market needed. We are pleased that Renaissance Capital has once again demonstrated its deep market insight into African capital markets."
