| Renaissance Capital enters Belarus, strengthens its regional platform |
Kiev, Minsk, December 10, 2009 – Renaissance Capital today announced the opening of a representative office in the Republic of Belarus.
The office will be led by Sergey Levin, who joins the Firm as Chairman for Renaissance Capital in Belarus, and will be based in Minsk. The office will be staffed locally and supported by Renaissance Capital’s investment banking hub in Kiev.
Sergey Levin is a Belarusian national with extensive experience in the Belarusian private and public economy.
Renaissance Capital will offer the full range of investment banking services in Belarus including access to equity and debt capital markets, securities sales and trading, M&A, research and derivatives and will promote the Republic of Belarus as an investor destination to foreign institutions and industries.
“We strongly believe in the potential of Belarus”, says Peter Vanhecke, CEO, Renaissance Capital Ukraine & CEE. “It is a promising market with good potential and it is a natural fit with the other regional markets in which Renaissance Capital operates. Furthermore, with Sergey, we have found a strong partner to help us with our development in Minsk,” said Mr. Vanhecke.
Sergey Levin added: “I have been involved in investments in Belarus for the past ten years and hence have accumulated broad and, what is more important, successful experience in the country. I am convinced that the opening of a representative office by Renaissance Capital in Minsk will open new financial opportunities for investing in the economy of Belarus and assist in the economic development of the country and its industries.”
