Mr. Sagiryan has served as President of Renaissance Capital since 1999. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Sagiryan was a founding partner and the Managing Director of Bain-Link, one of the premier management consultancies in Russia. As head of Bain-Link for eight years, he participated in many major projects in a wide range of industries. Mr. Sagiryan was involved in negotiating and closing transactions for numerous Russian and foreign investors, and has long been active in privatisation and restructuring projects across the country.
Before the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Mr. Sagiryan worked as an advisor in the International Department of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, and as an international department head of the Committee of Youth Organisations of the USSR. Mr. Sagiryan was among the first graduates of Harvard Business School from the USSR, completing an executive programme in 1990. Previously, he earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the Institute for US and Canadian Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and a Master of Science degree in Economics from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
