Moscow – More than 1,000 leading investors, corporate executives and government officials gathered in Moscow today to celebrate Russia's prosperity and emergence as a global centre of economic power and influence.

The event, which is taking place June 18-22, is the 11th Annual Investor Conference by Renaissance Capital, the leading global emerging markets investment banking group headquartered in Russia. The conference is organized around the theme “Russia: Investing in Prosperity.”

Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell is a keynote speaker at this year's conference. BP plc's new Group Chief Executive Tony Hayward will be a headliner on the oil & gas panel.

Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Naryshkin, Minister of Finance Alexei Kudrin, Minister of Telecommunications and IT Leonid Reiman, Minister of Energy Victor Khristenko, Head of the Audit Chamber Sergei Stepashin and Head of the Federal Financial Markets Service Vladimir Milovidov will speak on behalf of the Government.

Investors will also hear presentations from and interact with leading Russian executives representing, among others, Gazprom, Rosneft, Lukoil, Transneft, Surgutneftegas, Novatek, RAO UES, Norilsk Nickel, RUSAL, MMK, TMK, Polyus Gold, Severstal, SUEK, AFK Sistema, Prof-Media, MTS, Sitronics, Sberbank, VTB, Wimm Bill Dann and X5 Retail Group.

“This conference is coming at a time when Russia is experiencing a great deal of prosperity as well as economic and political prominence around the world,” said Renaissance Capital CEO Stephen Jennings. “Renaissance Capital is extremely bullish on Russia. Despite the market's less than stellar performance this year, we are confident Russia will continue to be one of the most dynamic, exciting and rewarding economies for investors for many years to come.”

Throughout the conference, Renaissance Capital is arranging more than 2,000 private, one-on-one meetings between investors and Russian corporates. Special roundtables on derivatives, real estate, the banking sector and endowments in Russia are also scheduled, as are regional site visits for investors to Sakhalin, Sochi and St. Petersburg.
